(Philadelphia).- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has announced the renewal of Rivers Casino Philadelphia for an additional five-year period.
The PA casino is moving into its fourteenth year of operation, and has generated nearly $4.5 billion of GGR from retail slot machines, table games, sports wagering and online casino. The entity has contributed nearly $2 billion in tax contributions since its inception.
Sugarhouse HSP Gaming, LP, received unanimous approval from the Board to continue the operation of its casino after fulfilling all obligations under its licensing requirements prior.
Rivers Casino passes all relevant tests for renewal
The rigorous renewal process of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board involves information gathering from both the corporate entity and the Philadelphia public.
In 2022 there was a public input hearing, where the Rivers Casino presented testimony and submitted exhibits to showcase the casino’s operation since it was last provided a license. The PA public was also allowed to give testimony to the Gaming Control Board about the casino’s impact on the local community.
Furthermore, the PA regulatory body took input from local government, the police, and the Gaming Control Board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement, Office of Compulsive and Problem Gaming and Bureau of Casino Compliance.
Finally, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board members were allowed to query the operating company about any issues left outstanding.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia is one of five stand-alone casinos that sit under Category 2 in Pennsylvania. In total, there are 17 casinos total that operate under the PGCB remit.
